Solid organic and inorganic compounds that deliver chlorine are also available but are generally limited to smaller industrial water applications. 

They have the added advantage of not requiring sophisticated feed equipment and generally do not pose the safety concerns of feeding chlorine gas. 

Calcium and sodium hypochlorites are available as powders or tablets. 

Organic compounds like chloroisocyanurates and chlorinated hydantoions are also commercially available and may offer the added advantage of releasing a chlorine stabilizer which cuts down on the level of chlorine lost to sunlight.
