UNIFORM ATTACKIf all corrosion manifested itself as an even, uniform attack over the entire metal surface, the length of service and special design considerations could easily be determined in advance and equipment could be safely designed for the intended "lifespan". Unfortunately, this is not the case. Most corrosion problems constitute localized attack at susceptible metal areas. It is more difficult to make predictions relating to design and service life under these conditions. |
