INTRODUCTION

In the next section, we will discuss the various types of deposit control agents commonly used in cooling water treatment programs. While these materials are sometimes used alone to control deposition, most proprietary cooling water products are usually a blend of two or more of these materials.

As a starting point for this discussion, we will discuss surfactants as they are materials that function somewhat differently from the mechanisms we reviewed in the previous section.
